Holding Out Hope for Gold's Gym
To the editor:
I have enjoyed the Gold's gym at the K-mart location for a while now. The gym is very clean. The staff is phenomenal. I have witnessed the crush of the people's morale at this gym. This gym is personal to us. People in my classes are heart sick, and just quiet.
Gold's gym has been a known fixture, and the loss is going to be felt. One of our neighbors in K-mart said he just assumed Gold's was always going to be there and had no interest in going to another gym.
We do not want Gold's to close for many reasons. Losing this gym is going to affect the businesses in the K-mart center. The people who go to the gym also go to the barber shop or hair dresser. They drop off jewelry and watches at Kim's, go to Fox Mill pets, eat at the many restaurants, buy vitamins at the vitamin store, go to Grace's bakery, or just go to K-mart for a quick all-purpose stop. These businesses will lose the business generated by Gold's Gym.
Gold's has been very generous to my children's school for several years with the French interns that come every year to Herndon Elementary and with donations to countless causes. I just received a donation for our silent auction to Herndon Elementary. I have no idea what else Gold's Gym has done, but knowing the personality of the gym I am sure there has been huge community involvement.
The patrons of this gym may not call up and complain. They are too busy trying to keep up with life. They may be silent but the businesses of the K-mart shopping center will reflect the loss of these people. Gold's gym should not close and there has to be a solution.
Finally, I want to thank every one at Gold's Gym. All your hard work maintaining and running this gym is going to be really missed.
