I would like to use this forum to publicly thank and commend the organizers and sponsors of the “Music Under the Stars” free summer concert series on the Town Green, now moved to Saturday evenings after a decades-long run on Thursdays.
While I lament the loss of Thursday concerts and the early jump on the weekend they afforded, given that these concerts often were poorly attended, I did not expect they would last forever. I am grateful that the Town of Herndon did not cancel this venerable concert series outright and am fully embracing the new Saturday night offerings. Judging by the healthy crowd that turned out for the first of three one-Saturday-a-month concerts being offered this summer, it appears others are as well.
If you missed Scythian’s performance on June 21, don’t fret; you can still catch The Fabulous Hubcaps on July 19 and Trout Fishing in America on August 16. Hopefully, equally good or better turnouts for these remaining two concerts will persuade the Town to resume the weekly offerings that existed prior to this year.
