Kicking a Pun Into its Grave

To the editor:

I was shocked and concerned when I read about the Herndon cemetery having a shortage of funds by $149,000 because of the trend of cremation instead of traditional burials relating to plot sales. Therefore, I headed over there to find out what was happening. No one is talking. I heard a rumor that most are taking it to their grave. Some are even rolling over.

With this budget deficit, I was wondering what they will do with the cemetery. Will they sell it? Will they move it? Will they just stop having deaths? It doesn't seem that anyone is dying to get out. They did put up a fence so that people would not be dying to get in, but that does not seem to be the trend right now. I just don't know what to think about all of this. I am just glad that I am not on the Town Council and having to deal with such a deadly topic. That would be enough to put you six feet under.

Move over, Andy Rooney. Here I come. Wait. Is he buried there? He is probably one that has decided not to be buried there. I did see him on TV the other night, didn't I? I hope I don't have a heart attack over this, for I might not have a place to go.
