Presidential Race is 'Twilight Zone'
To the editor:
There is no doubt that we are traveling through another dimension, past that "signpost up ahead" and have entered "The Twilight Zone." Where else can a presidential candidate proclaim with a straight face "in the 21st Century nations don't invade other nations" [John McCain, Aug. 13, 2008] after having championed just that and promising 100 more years of the same?
Where else can a presidential candidate who owns eight homes, flies around in a private jet, and wears $500 shoes call his opponent an "elitist?" Where else can a presidential candidate rally against those darn lobbyists while simultaneously packing his staff with lobbyists?
Where else can a presidential candidate get a free media pass for cheating on his sick spouse and trading her in for a newer, richer model while a former candidate of the opposite party is crucified by the media for doing the same?
Where else can nearly half the voting public not take such hypocrisy seriously?
